Okay, first thing I notice as I post this is that I drink too much coffee! But enough about me, onto this awesome new bakery cafe I discovered on the west side called Beaucoup Bakery and Cafe. I think it’s a toss up between French and Italian coffee but the French definitely win over the baked goods category!
All their food looks delicious, it’s hard to choose between a savory scone and a sweet pain au chocolat! And any place that serves drinking chocolate must be alright! For children, they have high chairs so although its not as great as some places that provide toys, it’s better than most in that you don’t have to balance your little one on your lap while trying to keep them from knocking over your hot drink!
They’re open Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday) 7-6 during the week and 8-5 on the weekend and they’re located at 2150 Fir St.

Today we decided to take a trip to the central branch of the library and I just found out that every Wednesday at the Vancouver Public Library at 3:30pm they have a family sing-along! What fun! Families and kids of all ages are invited down to the children’s section of the library for a half hour of singing fun! I hope to see you there next week. Best part is, its free!!
Check out the VPL’s website for more information.
So I have previously mentioned my hate of going to small cafes and also chains because of the inconvenience of maneuvering a stroller around the tables and the bad looks you get from other patrons but I would like to revise this a bit.
I was recently invited for coffee at the Starbucks at Kingsway and Tyne on the east side of Vancouver and I must say its pretty great. The place is huge and there is plenty of room for multiple strollers. They also have a small table with chairs that is perfect for little ones to sit at. They even have high chairs for the littler ones that can’t sit at their own table. They have a kids menu with juice, milk and hot chocolate. The best part is free internet, so if you take a sleeping baby you can surf for free!
Can you believe 2013 is only two days away??? I know I can’t! This year we lucked out and a friend of ours is throwing a family friendly New Years Eve party complete with crafts for kids, blow up mattresses for them to crash on and fun times for the adults, but most years we’re left wondering, what can we do that includes kids in the festivities? If you still don’t have plans and are looking for something fun to do that includes everyone, read on and cross your fingers for no rain!
This year the city of Vancouver is hosting a family friendly celebration at Robson Square. There will be music (live dj starting at 8pm), entertainment, ice skating and a countdown at 7pm and 9pm to accommodate the earlier bedtimes. To find out more, visit the event page.
Happy New Year everyone! See you in 2013.
Gymboree located in North Vancouver offers classes from 0-5 years old encouraging development through play and learning. I thought they were just a clothing store, but they offer classes in play, music and art as well as birthday parties. They also have an open gym and that is the reason for this post. For the month of December, all open gym sessions are free to the community.
